Hillary Clinton Opposing the Guest-worker Program
Hillary Clinton is a present presidential candidate for 2008. She is currently a Senator for New York. She opposes the guest-worker program for one good reason that all should know about.
McCain, Obama, and Hillary all agree that all illegal immigrants should learn English, but don’t approve of making it the official language of the United States. Also, they all say that they support and will help all illegal immigrants become legal. The big difference in immigration between all of them is that McCain and Obama both support guest workers.
Every citizen in the United States should have the same opportunity of wages as everyone else. This is why we should not discriminate the worker immigrants. If they are legal, they deserve the same rights. Hillary Clinton states, “It is easier sometimes to employ people who are immigrants and… really take advantage of them.”
The guest-worker program creates more jobs for immigrants at a lower pay, which will also depress the United States wages. Many people can’t afford wages to drop.
Hillary stated, “With guest workers, working Americans would discover there is no opportunity for upward mobility at their job. In fact, every day their employers are trying to find ways to push down wages, eliminate retirement, and eliminate health care. What has happened in this country, with what is called the “new global economy,” is dramatic downward pressure on income for American workers. The guest worker program provides that 400,000 people will be able to come in to assume jobs in our country per year–adding to the 12 million illegal immigrants already here.”
